Live capture

The application form takes this photo itself with your webcam or phone camera, so there's no file to prepare. Here's how to get it right first time:

  • Find a place with good light and a plain background.
  • Keep the camera at eye level, sit directly in front of it and look straight ahead.
  • Keep your whole face inside the red rectangle shown by the camera, neither too close nor too far.
  • Don't wear a cap, mask, glasses, spectacles, earphones or any other device.
  • Never capture a photo of an existing photograph; such applications are rejected.
  • If you can't use a camera, scan the QR code on the Upload Documents page to capture the photo on an Android phone.

SSC GD upload FAQ

Which documents do I need to upload for SSC GD?

Required: Signature. The application form also takes a live photo with your webcam or phone camera.

What is the SSC GD signature size?

JPG · about 6 × 2 cm · 10–20 KB · 300 DPI · white background. Source: SSC GD 2026 notice, checked on 5 Oct 2026.

Is the SSC GD photo captured live?

Yes. Photo is taken by the application form itself, with your webcam or phone camera, so there's no file to prepare for it. Use a plain, light background, even light, and look straight at the camera.

What if my file is smaller than the minimum size?

We first raise the quality and resolution within the allowed limits. If it's still under the minimum, we add standard metadata to reach it. The picture doesn't change, and the card tells you when this happened.
